About Us

The “North Coast Center for Biodiversity and Sustainability” was incorporated as a legal nonprofit organization on August 30, 1993.

In March of 1997 the organization was renamed LEGACY – The Landscape Connection.

LEGACY-The Landscape Connection (Legacy-TLC) has worked on developing a biodiversity conservation strategy for the North Coastal Basin (NCB) of California. We provide information for protection and restoration of native biodiversity in the Klamath Ecoregion.

Legacy-TLC is a collaboration of community members, landowners, professional scientists, educators, researchers, and students united under the vision of creating an ecologically based, science-informed, and collectively built conservation strategy to reconnect the fragmented landscapes of our ecoregion.

LEGACY-TLC supports local conservation efforts by providing a regional and global perspective on biodiversity and sustainability issues in northwestern California.

As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, we bring our expertise and dedication to conveying the complex biological messages of our place, and provide a regional context for various groups in their land management decisions. We work in cross-organisational, inter-agency alliances to build wildfire resiliency and restore indigenous land stewardship practices.
